The new food pyramid is an excellent, healthy approach to make sure you are eating plenty of healthy food.

This does not mean that you can not eat treats. It is OK to eat everything as long as you eat it in moderation.

Once you know how much of what you should eat every day you can compare it to what you actually usually eat. Write down everything you eat on one day, making sure it is a typical day. Compare to what
MyPyramid suggests. Now you can compare it and see what foods you may eat too much of and what foods you need to eat more of.
Many children do not eat enough fruits and vegetables. Think about ways to add more fruit and vegetables to your diet. How about starting out each day great by adding a piece of fruit to your breakfast? If this sounds like too much, try sharing one piece of fruit with your parent or sibling. A great way to add fruit to your breakfast is to add it to oatmeal or slice it into your cereal.

It is healthier to eat whole grains. Try making half of the grains you eat whole. Tips on how to include more whole grains are here.
Milk and milk products help keep your bones strong. If you are allergic to milk or your parents do not want you to include milk in your diet you can also get calcium - the thing that keeps your bones strong - from certain vegetables, such as Chinese cabbage, kale and broccoli.

Unlike other food pyramids this new mypyramid includes exercise. It is recommended that children exercise for one hour every or almost every day. For adults 30 minutes every or almost every day are recommended. Can you think of ways to include one hour of exercise every day?
